Shooting a Cycling studio need advice
First time shooting a cycling studio and I’m a little nervous about the technical side. Anyone done this before?
So I just got booked to shoot a cycling studio and honestly I’m excited but also kind of stressed lol. I went and scoped the place out yesterday to get a feel for the space and it’s a cool setup but the lighting situation has me thinking.
The place is super dim, like moody cycling class dim (only for the LED strip). The good news is I can shoot with the main lights on instead of the LED accent lights, so I’m not completely in the dark (pun intended). But I still want to make sure I’m walking in there prepared and not just winging it.
This is my first time shooting this kind of environment specifically. I do real estate and event work so I’m not a stranger to tricky lighting but a cycling studio feels like its own thing. Lots of movement, bikes lined up in rows, people mid workout there’s a lot going on.
I guess what I’m looking for is:
∙ Any shooters here who’ve done fitness or studio spaces like this? ∙ What settings or gear helped you most in low to mid light situations with action involved? ∙ Any YouTube channels, articles, or resources you’d point a photographer to for this kind of shoot? I want to deliver something the client is actually proud of and not just “good enough” photos. Any advice is appreciated
