Belgium question for summer

Hi all.

Im planning to go to Belgium for a few days over summer - finishing at Ypres.

I am going to Ghent in November so would like to avoid that.

I was thinking, having a base in brugges, spending a day there and then a day in oostende to then go to Ypres.

I want to go to oostende for the beach but i hear its not the nicest beach- thoughts? is there another beach that i can get to and back from brugges?
